MELICK/SENGELMANN MOUNTAIN PATIO
This project was one of our favorites. The mountain views and fresh air welcomed us every day upon our arrival to the site. Located on a very steep grade, we had to engineer steel plates that were secured to the bedrock underneath a thin layer of mountain soil. This took a great amount of work to execute properly, but was a fun design challenge.
The existing cabin was built with hefty logs some of which are over two feet in diameter. The home has three levels and high ceilings and views of the mountains from every main room. It demanded that our patio design feel equal in stature.
While honoring the cabin’s luxurious form, we added a curved edge to the outside of the elevated patio to soften the transition into the forest trees and landscape.
